It’s that time. The annual snapshot of my week, from start to finish. I’m on year six now of this documentary-style daily posting for an entire week. Quite frankly, it’s a pain in the ass to do this each year. I’m sitting here at 10 pm typing when I’d much rather be reading a book or watching TV with Joe. But, I know I’ll appreciate having these little glimpses back in time (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) for many years to come.
So…Week in My Life 2016…ready, set, go.
//Monday, November 28, 2016//
My alarm went off at 4:45 am this morning. That sounds super early but it’s actually 45 minutes later than usual. Lora (my morning running partner) is out of town on vacation so there was no usual Monday run for me today. And so I slept in (ha). I’m determined to not skip workouts this week while she is in Hawaii (read: while I’ve got no one to motivate me to get my butt out of bed), so I headed straight for the gym this morning and made it there right after 5.
I did a 30 minute workout from the Sweat app.
A quick stop at Haggen (one of two trips there today) to grab a couple of things I forgot at the grocery store yesterday then home to get ready for the day.
Here’s a typical morning bedroom scene:
Not pictured, but taking up even more space on the opposite side of our bed: Murray, the 80-lb goldendoodle.
Monday mornings are super easy as far as the morning routine goes. My mom comes over to our house, gets the girls ready, feeds them breakfast and gets Lyla off on the bus. I treasure these mornings where I don’t have to get the kids from the house to the car. (WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR CHILDREN TO LEAVE THE HOUSE? <— there’s a preview of my post tomorrow for you).
Needless to say, I’m thankful we live so close to family and that they are so willing to help.
Off to work for both me and Joe. Nothing too eventful today. I went home for lunch and did some online shopping, including snagging the very last Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage at Target for Lyla, reserving it for in-store pickup. It’s the only Christmas gift she specifically asked for and it has been out of stock the last few times I checked. Score.
I stopped at Haggen again on my way home from work again, to grab a couple more things I had forgotten (this is what happens when I don’t grocery shop with a list).
Home around 5:15. All hail the slow cooker. There is nothing better than walking in the house to dinner already made (I had put a ham and lentil soup cooking this morning before I left for work). Dave and Annette joined us for dinner, since it was their leftover ham bone that made the soup.
Humoring me by posing for a photo. And yes, we still have fall window clings up. It’s fall until December 1st in this house.
Ly got her Scholastic book order at school today so we had a pile of new books to read tonight before bed. Clear favorite: Mother Bruce. I love reading to the girls at the end of the day. It’s the best.
Oh that sagging sofa. We bought it with our tax return the year we got married. 15 years old and it’s time to be replaced, for sure.
After books, Joe took over bedtime tonight while I got to…wait for it….wait for it….
Go to Target by myself. (<—totally worthy of it’s own paragraph, right?)
I picked up Ly’s behemoth of a present, and perhaps a couple new shirts for me, and made it home by 9 pm.
Murr and I took a quick walk up to Church Road and back. And now here I am, typing up this blog post.
Monday, over and out.
