I keep changing the title of this. First it was Ten things I did last weekend, then Ten things I’ve done in the last couple of weeks, and now I’ve rounded it up to the whole month. I can’t seem to catch up, but I know if I don’t jot this stuff down, I won’t remember:
Went to Rocket Donuts, Village Books, and Fat Pie Pizza, all in one day. Beth, Jeff, and the kids came up and had a sleepover at our house last Friday night. While Jeff was running the Chuckanut 50K, Beth and I took the kiddos around Fairhaven, then did some race-spectating, then finished off the day with lunch at Fat Pie with my mom and dad. Lots of fun.
Had a living room dinner and a movie with Joe and the girls last Saturday night. A platter of finger foods, a bowl of popcorn, and Big Hero 6 (which was really cute). Lyla keeps asking us to do it again.
Signed up for the Bellingham Half Marathon, again. Rates were going up, I had a coupon code, and…I need something big-ish on the calendar to get me to stick to more of a training schedule. I want to PR. (There, I said it. Now I’ve really got to follow through.) Planning to do a 10K in May (this one) and the Chuckanut Footrace in July too, along with some trail running now that spring has arrived.
Stayed home sick from work. Ugh. I got some sort of bug that knocked me on my ass Thursday. I’m so thankful for reliable day care, which allowed me a kid-free day at home to sleep. And that I did…for almost the entire day.
Went on a Vancouver adventure. Chris, Sarah, and Brayden were up visiting so we all loaded in my car and headed north to the Vancouver Aquarium for the day. For a day-trip with three kids age three and under, everything went remarkably well. It was fun watching the kids go crazy over the fish. Lyla, Maggie, and I gave a high-five to a scuba diver (through the glass — he was swimming in the shark tank), and we watched a dolphin show and a beluga whale show. Oh, Canada. I stand on guard for thee.
This is literally the only non-blurry photo I have from that day with actual sea life in it. How does one go to the aquarium and not take photos of fish? (I blame a certain 19-month-old that likes to venture off on her own, quickly.)
Drawing photos of sea monsters.
Celebrated Joe’s 29th (!) birthday. He bought some king crab from a place by his work so we had everyone over Saturday night for a crab feed. So good.
Watched My Little Pony with Lyla. She has been really into watching YouTube video clips of this show lately. Up until today, I hadn’t ever really paid much attention to the storylines. Oh my alicorn, that show is wacky. She is obsessed.
Watched Magster drag race down the driveway on her little motorcycle over and over and over again. She is obsessed.
Got chosen as a Product Scout for Sassy Savvy Moms, a women’s online style magazine. Technically, it was announced last month, but I don’t think I’ve mentioned anything about it here yet. I’m thrilled to be a part of this great group of ladies, and excited to be doing some writing for them. You can read more about each of them, here.
On a related note, I arrived home from the aquarium Friday to a big box full of goodies on my front porch, courtesy of Sassy Savvy Moms. Look for some product reviews posted here in the coming weeks. Can’t wait to get started.
That peppermint foot rub was the very first thing I opened. Two big toes up.
And with that, March is pretty much a wrap.
Hooray for Spring!
